Our 2nd Anniversary!

That's right! Two years! We lasted another year!

John got a new job so we weren't able to go on a nice long vacation like last year. We did go out of town and celebrate the weekend before our anniversary though.

I really wanted this chair
As you know we spent our honeymoon in vegas and we both want to go back so bad but that's not in the cards yet. So we settled for the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Tulsa. We were only staying for one night so I went a little crazy and got an amazing room! We walked into our suite and both said "holy shit'. This place was huge and possibly bigger then our last apartment. It had two, YES TWO, bathrooms. One bathroom had a stand up shower, a whirl pool tub, and was the size of my bedroom! The furniture was gorgeous. I really wanted to take it home with me.

Anyway, enough about the room. At 8:30, we had dinner at McGuill's on 19. It was on the 19th floor and was a fancy schmancy steak house type place. Well after dinner I was tired and full (not a good combo on your anniversary night celebration). I had a ton of coffee at 5pm. I wanted to stay up late and have fun. Well I made it to 11pm before I called it a night. Don't worry we celebrated... but we didn't gamble or drink or stay up all night like I wanted. Because I'm an old fart.

After a long restful nights sleep, we went and gambled! I was awful, as usual. John was awesome! He almost had our trip paid for with how much he won! Then at 11am the bars opened. My best friend went here a few weeks ago and told me about a drink I needed to try. So I tried it at 11am. Don't judge. I was on vacation. So I had a couple of drinks and John gambled some more. We left at 1 and I was out at 1:30. I never sleep in cars and I slept all the way home. I guess that's what I get for drinking before noon.

On our actual anniversary, june 11th, we took it easy. I had ordered some of our favorite Italian food to go, we had a large glass of wine and stayed in.

Yay for tripods! I was able to do our own anniversary picture.
Our amazing suite!

The end of May

Wow I did a good job at keeping up with May...

Where did I leave off at?? Oh yes!  May 17 I was going to have a girls nigh out as part of my birthday celebrations. Well... That didn't happen. One wasn't feeling good, one was late, and one had to leave early. So we stayed in had a couple of drinks and just got caught up with everyone. It was a nice and relaxing evening.

Then May 20th happened. Huge storms and tornados hit Moore. Luckily all my family and friends were okay and still had there homes and families. I work in Norman but live in SW OKC. I wasn't able to go home that night. I spent the night at mom's house since she lived in norman. All I wanted was to go home that night and be with my husband. But the highways were at a dead stop and the back roads weren't passable. My heart was just broken. We watched hours and hours of news trying to figure out what all happened.

May 20- 26 was stressful and I was very much so looking forward to the 3 day weekend. Saturday we went and saw Star Trek ( good but I liked the 1st one more) and walked around quail springs mall. Sunday I got to see my Aunt Kelly, Uncle Greg, and cousin Rachel. It was so nice to see them! I haven't seen Uncle Greg in years and last time I saw Aunt Kelly and Rachel was TJ's wedding. Monday we ended up going to watch Fast and Furious 6 ( it was okay). Overall it was a relaxing weekend.

Power poles down. The apartments across the street took a hit.
May 31st another bad round of storms were coming. Me and John were able to get home before they were projected to hit. We had bags packed (just in case),and had our spare mattress waiting in the hall way. John's parents call us asking if we're okay. Then my brother calls and asks if we're okay. (Yes were watching the news but I guess not all that well.) Well my brother calls again and says "what's your plan?". If he is panicking then I know we're going to get hit bad and need to get out of there. So we go to my brother's friend's temporary place at Hillsdale (their home was damaged but not gone). They were staying at the apartments and theirs is mostly underground. So I knew we were safe.
We didn't have power at our place and streets were flooded so we drove to Norman to spend the night with my inlaws. I woke up to pancakes and bacon in the morning! :) We were able to get back to apartment and were luck that we didn't have any problems.

We just got a lot of shingles (that weren't ours) and branches.

June 1st we celebrated my cousin Sam turning 16! We also hung out with our best friends that evening. After the last couple of weeks it was nice to be around our family and friends.

The Big 26.

Today I turned 26. I can't believe it. My 20s are almost over.
Its starting to get weird to shop in the jr section (mostly because it doesn't really fit anymore). Staying up past 10pm is getting harder too. And I now get excited about linen closests and pantries.
I have 4 years till I'm 30. Which means, in 4 years I'd like to have gone to Disney World (I'm not kidding. I will do this before kids!), bought a house and either pregnant or already have my first child.
Four years till I'm 30...

I don't feel like a "young adult" but I definitely don't feel like a real adult yet either!

Anyway... My birthday was fantastic! I was spoiled all day long! Even my hair cooperated today!

It started off waking up next to my husband and him sleepily saying "happy birthday". My hair was still curly (shocker) after getting it done last night.

My boss  is sweet and brought me a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks!

Then my sweet hubby had flowers delivered to my work! Beautiful red roses!

Work bought me lunch and a red velvet cupcake!

John was teasing all week, "are you ready for McDonald's for your birthday date?" and I'd laugh and go a long with it. Tonight, he was taking me to dinner and pulled into McDonald's and unhooked his seat belt and opened the door.  I was laughing and saying " you have got to be joking!" Now I'm no snob but on my birthday date I want to eat somewhere nice! Luckily he was just teasing and took me to my favorite steak house!

I'm blessed with great friends that sent me many birthday texts, facebook posts, tweets and blog posts.
Thank you all!

May ( Days 11- 14)

May 11: We ran a 5k for the first time ever! (Well actually we walked it but whatever.) We did the color me rad run and I didn't get as colorful as I expected.
After the race, we went home showered and rested up for Em's bday party. Which I didn't get any pictures of. It seemed like she had a good time. I was preoccupied with all the babies there! :)
I can't believe she's already 12. Its bittersweet. Im sad she's growing up but excited to see what God has in store for her.

 May 12: Mother's Day
I love these two so much. They both do so much for us!
We took my mother in law out to lunch at The Garage ( her favorite). We sat and chatted for a while.
We then went and hung out with my mom. All she wanted to do was go see a dollar movie. We saw The Host, it was good but I wouldn't buy it. John and Em didn't want to see it. So they went and got candy and played redneck games on the wii.

May 13: Birthday Dinner
Mom always makes us a special dinner for our birthdays. We celebrated mine,  Em's and Grandma's birthdays.  We had chicken enchiladas and strawberry cake.  I got a lot of Warren giftcards. I'm a movie junkie so this was perfect!  We always have a good time together. Lots of giggles and pictures.

May 14:
Today is Grandma Carol's birthday!
Happy Birthday!!!!

New Places

As you know we have moved to Oklahoma City. And as you know I'm directionally challenged and don't know where anything is here!
We've been trying to eat local and we've found some new places to eat that are equally or greater then our favorites in Norman.
Our favorite sandwich place- Pickerman's on 89th and Penn. We went here a lot when we attended Oklahoma City Community College. It wasn't really new but its just closer and we get to eat there more often. They have Delicious sandwiches, soups and chili.
New Mexican Food Spot- Alvarado's on 119th and Western. This place is the bomb dot com! So far I haven't had anything that I don't like. YOU MUST HAVE A SOPAPILLA WITH BRANDY SAUCE! SOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!
Authentic Italian Food Place- Spazio Ristorante on 104th and Penn. Real pasta, real sauce, real good! There was this place in Norman that we loved called Gaberino's and I think this place will be a good replacement! I'm excited to eat my left overs.

I'm hoping I can find more local restaurants that I can tell you about. For now, try these and enjoy!

May (Days 1-10)

May is a crazy month for me! We have 6 birthdays and mother's day! Every weekend is busy but I love celebrating my families lives!

This weeks birthday shout out goes to my cousin Fer Fer! She's the big 2-1!! We can finally go out together! She's been through so much the last few months and I'm happy to see her doing better.

We saw Iron Man 3 on May 5th. I thought it was good but felt like it had holes in it. I walked away wondering will there be more appearances of Iron Man? Or is it done? Its good! Go see it! Let me know what you think!
For all you 21 and up- ers: Warren Theater (The Best Theater EVER!) had a very yummy drink called The Mandarin (the bad guy in IM3) and an Iron Man drink, but I had already had that one before.

Oh! AND I started going back to dance again with the girls that I've been dancing with since 2005(?)! My soul is so happy! I haven't danced since January 2011. The only reason I stopped was because I was planning a wedding and then life got in the way and we hadn't started back up since.
The first night back and it was just 3 of us and we went hard! I couldn't walk right for 3 days!

We watched Em's last band concert. She didn't care for band but she stayed committed and finished the year out. I'm excited to see her do speech and drama. She's shy in front of large groups but she is the funniest kid alive when she's with people who are close to her!
